Bjørn Friborg

Bjørn Friborg works within the field of contemporary glass with a physical, performative approach that challenges 500 years of established glassmaking tradition. His works are improvisational — driven by bodily energy and the maximal expression of the material.

Implosion

Monolithic, oval forms that hold a split-second collapse — frozen in the instant when internal air pressure yields to the weight of the poured glass. “It’s about the seconds that capture the moment itself. Like a burst of energy.”

Penetration

Large blown-glass objects are penetrated by molten glass infused with silver nitrate. The result is forms that freeze a dynamic moment of transformation — glass meeting the language of ceramics.
